The Enerdrive ePower Smart Chargers are fully automatic and can be permanently attached to your battery without the risk of overcharging—you can simply set and forget! They can be used to charge up to 3 batteries at a time with priority given to battery 1 so that it charges the fastest before moving on to battery 2 and 3. If all batteries need charging, the override function allows charging of all 3 batteries evenly before switching back to prioritise battery 1. The easy to read display gives you all the info you need at a glance including charger amps, battery voltage, and charge state.
The charger has a 4 stage charging process to protect your battery.
Stage 1 - Bulk or boost charge; The battery is charged at the full rated output of the charger until it reaches its absorption voltage at about 80% charge.
Stage 2 - Absorption charge; The remaining 20% of the battery is charged with the charger voltage held steady, allowing the current to taper off as the battery gets close to being fully charged.
Stage 3 - Float; The voltage of the charger is lowered and held at a safe level so that it will supply enough current to allow for any self-discharge or loads on the battery without overcharging.
Stage 4 - Maintenance; After the battery has been in the float stage for 7 days the charger will switch from float to bulk to agitate the battery’s electrolyte and help extend the life of your battery.
