Cleaning an Alvey reel is a total breeze! The reels are so robust they can actually be dunked in the ocean for a quick rinse. After a solid fishing sesh, a light rinse to remove sand and salt, followed by a quick dry, is usually all that’s needed to keep them running smoothly. How easy is that?

Casting an Alvey reel is all about the sidecast action. Rotate the spool 90 degrees, hold the line with your index finger against the spool, then swing through with a sidearm or overhead cast. Once the bait’s in the water, flip the spool back into position and you’re fishing.
