When you purchase a brand-new Mercury Outboard from an authorised dealer, you’re covered by a massive 3+3 year warranty. That includes a bonus extra 3 years, factory-backed, with the same comprehensive coverage as Mercury’s standard 3-year manufacturer’s warranty — labour excluded — for any failures caused by defects in materials or workmanship. And good news: if you pass the motor on, any unexpired warranty can be transferred to the next owner as long as the product is properly re-registered.
Bonus Warranty Conditions
- The dealer must complete and document the official Mercury Marine pre-delivery inspection. Warranty only kicks in once the dealer has correctly registered your outboard.
- All servicing, maintenance, and repairs must be carried out by a factory-authorised Mercury dealer, and logged with Mercury.
- Stick to the recommended service intervals and maintenance schedule from the date of purchase.
- Only use genuine Mercury parts, oils, and lubricants.
- Make sure each service is recorded in your logbook and registered online by your authorised dealer.
Maintenance Schedule

Even if your engine has only been used for a few hours, it is important to get this inspection done by the due date.
