Action
Action refers to how and where the rod bends under load. Rods can be classified as slow, medium, fast or extra fast depending on how much of the blank bends.
- Fast action rods bend in the upper part of the blank. That makes them more responsive, giving you better contact with the lure and the fish.
- Slow action rods bend deeper, making them smoother and more forgiving. That helps keep fish hooked and makes it easier to cast.
- For beginners, a rod with moderate to fast action is a good start. That gives you a solid balance between sensitivity, casting control, and ease of casting.
