What is a loft rating?

Loft or 'Fill Power' is one measure of down quality (fluffiness). The loft number indicates the volume, in cubic inches, that a single ounce (28 grams) of down occupies. The higher the number, the more effective the insulation.

Each cylinder represents a consistent weight of down at different loft ratings.
