Gear Ratio
Gear Ratio tells you how many times the spool rotates with one full turn of the handle. It’s a quick guide to how fast the reel retrieves line and how much cranking power it provides.
- Lower ratios (e.g. 5.2:1) = more power/torque, better for deep lures and hard-fighting fish.
- Mid ratios (e.g. 6.2:1) = versatile all-round performance.
- Higher ratios (e.g. 7.3:1+) = faster retrieve, great for moving lures fast.
Note: Actual line pickup also depends on spool size (a larger spool typically retrieves more line per handle turn).
