If you are after a hook that is ideal to use with strip baits when targeting offshore flathead and dusky flathead in the estuaries and bays, the 10/0 Mustad Kirby hook is the one that you want. With its extended shank and straight eye, you will be able to lay the shaft of the hook along the skin of the bait, keeping it straight and true. This hook is also ideal for when you are using a whole pilchard to target reef species. All you need to do is push the point and barb through the bait, lay the shaft against it, and then apply a couple of half-hitches around the tail to keep the bait nice and straight. They also come in a small plastic container to keep them neat and tidy.
