The Mustad Wide Gap is a very popular hook size and shape amongst anglers who target flathead. With its wide gap and rounded shape, it will tend to roll over and lay flat when a flathead bites down on it. This will then cause the hook to penetrate into the hinge side of the flathead's mouth.
Due to its wide gap, you can thread it through the eye of several whitebait, hardy-heads, small mullet or small blue pilchards. Depending on the size of the hook, you can get up to 3 or 4 on. When drifting, this tends to make it look like a small school of baitfish fleeing the clutches of the predator.
They come in a handy resealable plastic container, and with 25 in the pack, you will be able to share them with friends.
