Care and setup instructions
Seasoning your swag
Before your first trip, unpack the swag and remove the mattress, poles and hardware. Thoroughly soak the canvas using a hose, paying close attention to seams and stitching, then allow it to dry completely. Repeat this process a second time to help the canvas expand and seal, improving water resistance and reducing the chance of leaks!
Setup tips
Set your swag up on level ground in a sheltered area, facing away from wind and rain. Avoid pitching under trees, near water or close to campfires to reduce exposure to moisture and debris!
Pole assembly
For 3-pole swags, use the longest pole at the head, the second longest in the middle and the shortest at the foot. Carefully flex poles into position using the clips and ring-and-pin system without applying excessive force. If your swag includes a spreader pole, fully extend and secure it firmly!
Securing your swag
Use guy ropes and pegs to secure your swag properly, tying off to solid anchor points and pegging down corners to maintain shape and stability in changing conditions!
Ventilation and condensation
Keep windows or covers open when conditions allow to promote airflow. Proper ventilation helps prevent condensation build-up inside the swag, which can occur from body heat and may be mistaken for leaks!
Packing and storage
Always ensure your swag is completely dry before rolling it up and storing it in a dry place. If packed away wet, make sure to unpack and fully dry it as soon as possible to prevent damage or mould!
