Length

Length refers to the length of the rod in feet and inches. Rod length affects how far you can cast, how much control you have over the lure, and how effectively you can set the hook.

• Longer rods give you more casting distance, but also creates more lift in the line. They're useful when you need more casting distance or when fishing from high banks, rocks or open shorelines.
• Shorter rods are easier to handle in tight spaces - like fishing from small boats, kayaks or with trees around you. It also makes it easier to work the lure with your hands or wrists.
• For beginners, a rod around 7 to 8 choice is a good start for an all-rounder choice. It's long enough for good casting distance, but short enough to be easy to control.
