RATING
Wanderer sleeping bags are tested to the EN ISO 23537-1:2022 standard, the globally recognised method for measuring temperature ratings. Testing is conducted in controlled lab conditions for consistent, reliable comparisons.
Each bag has three temperature ratings, with the Comfort rating used as the main guide across the Wanderer range.
- Comfort Temperature: The lowest temperature at which a standard adult woman (25 years old, 1.60m, 60kg) can sleep comfortably in a relaxed position.
- Limit Temperature: The lowest temperature at which a standard adult man (25 years old, 1.73m, 73kg) can sleep for up to eight hours in a curled position without waking from the cold.
- Extreme Temperature: A survival-only rating for a standard adult woman. A strong sensation of cold is expected, with a significant risk of hypothermia. Not intended for normal use.
Real-World Factors
Ratings are based on lab testing with a mannequin wearing a base layer and lying on a mat with an R-value of 4.8. Actual warmth will vary depending on:
- Sleep System: Your sleeping pad’s R-value and what you wear to bed.
- Individual Differences: Metabolism, fatigue, and calorie intake.
- Environmental Conditions: Wind, humidity, and dampness can reduce warmth.
