What is Cyber Monday?
Cyber Monday is the Monday immediately following Black Friday. Retailers began to notice a trend that many consumers were too busy to shop over the Thanksgiving holiday in the US. When they eventually had some free time the following Monday however, they began to shop online. Just like the Black Friday sale, Cyber Monday started in the United States and has since become an international trend.
What’s the difference between Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
Black Friday originated in the United States and was often synonymous with going to brick-and-mortar stores after Thanksgiving to start your Christmas shopping. Since then, with the invention of the internet and boom in e-commerce, it has spread across the globe and has shifted massively to online sales. The only difference between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is that the latter has always been exclusively online and once upon a time used to be more about getting deals on lifestyle goods rather than big tickets items like electronics. Now, the two events have essentially become one massive week-long shopping spree discount.
