you do get what you pay for
i gabbed one of these little combos a few weeks back to use out of my kayak and generally it is ok, but like with any pre-spooled reel, i should have de-spooled/re-spooled before using it. you never know how long the line has been on the reel for and when i took it out the second or third time all it did was tangle up on me time after time. i've removed the reel and replaced it with a little abu garcia cardinale that was just sitting in my shed, but i will put the reel on another rod eventually.
all in all, not bad for the money. the rod is reasonably sensative, the real is a bit noisy and not particularly smooth in operation....but....you do get what you pay for.
