The Brag Mat is another critical piece of equipment when it comes to the safe release of fish. Rather than using a plastic ruler or sticker rule that is applied to the boat, using a brag Mat looks after the fish in two ways; Firstly instead of laying your fish on the sticker rule on your boat, which could get very hot especially on an aluminum hull in summer, using a wet Brag Mat will not burn the fish or remove the protective slime coat. Secondly instead of holding the fish up for a photo and having to tell tales to your fellow anglers about the size, the printed measure on the Brag Mat removes all doubt to the size of your fish when it comes time to brag to your mates. HOT TIP – Wet the Brag Mat prior to placing your fish on it, this will cool the Brag Mat down and assists in preventing the removal of the valuable, protective slime coat on the fish. The brag Mat is made from heavy duty PVC vinyl mat making it hard wearing and long lasting. HOT TIP – You can mark your fishes length on the mat with a ball point pen or permanent marker, this can be an exciting way to keep track of your best catches.
